We would welcome the opportunity to discuss availability of places for your child and to help you discover whether our School is the right choice for your family. Please contact the Admissions team to discuss.
We have been welcoming overseas students to our School for more than 100 years, with a vibrant history of international students representing on average twenty countries each year.
Our first students joined us from New Zealand, followed by students from South East Asia in the 1940s. We celebrate the diversity and opportunities for global learning and global friendships that this brings.
Overseas families choose our School because of our exceptional reputation; well-developed boarding programme and pastoral support; outstanding learning opportunities that include both the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme; and our balanced approach to education built on the pillars of Adventure Education, Positive Education and Creative Education, including the world-renowned Timbertop programme.
We offer places for overseas students from Prep to Year 12. Families can choose between our Bostock House and Toorak Campus for the Primary years.
In the Secondary years, students join the School in Year 7 in the peaceful setting of Corio Campus. After completing Years 7 and 8, all Year 9 students move to the Timbertop Campus, located approximately three and a half hours drive from Corio. Following this, students return to Corio Campus to complete Year 10 to Year 12.
Please refer to Entry into Timbertop if you are considering applying into Year 9 for further information for eligibility and criteria for offering a place.
In Years 11 and 12, we offer students the choice to select from two distinct courses: the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Both of these tertiary pathways provide our Year 12 graduates with an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) and can facilitate entry to local and overseas universities.
As a nonselective school, we are proud of all students’ results and gauge the success of every student with respect to their ability, effort and perseverance.
We congratulate our recent graduates on their exceptional achievement.

To apply for a place at our School, please complete the online application:
When applying you will be asked to:
All overseas students applying to enter the School in Year 5 and above and who do not have English as their first language are required to sit an approved English Language Proficiency Test which is administered by the Australian Education Assessment Services (AEAS). The AEAS test can often be done in your home country. The minimum level of English proficiency is found in the Overseas Student enrolment Guide.
For student applications from Prep to Year 4, testing is not required.
Applications are accepted at any time; however, due to demand and to avoid disappointment we suggest that you apply as early as possible so that we can maintain communication for available places.
A member of our Admissions team will get in touch with you to confirm your application and to schedule an interview one to two years prior to the intended date of entry. Prior to the interview, you will be asked to complete a pre-enrolment questionnaire. Interviews are conducted with prospective students and families by the Admissions Manager and relevant Heads of Campus.
Please understand the successful lodgement of an enrolment application, with accompanying enrolment application fee, does not guarantee a place at Geelong Grammar School.
Following an interview, a formal offer may be issued if a place is available and at the discretion of the School, and if your child is at the required level of English language proficiency, either by passing the AEAS test or by attending an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS).
To accept an enrolment offer, you need to complete the required enrolment documentation, provide school reports and English language test results (if applicable) and pay a non-refundable enrolment fee by the date stipulated. Overseas students also must obtain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) as a condition of enrolment.
Once the acceptance process is complete, a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) form and a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) letter will be sent to you (unless the student will reside with an approved relative). The CoE and CAAW letter are necessary to obtain a student visa.
It is important to keep up to date with your arrival details and approval of visa prior to commencement.
You are welcome to apply directly to our School, or you can choose to use one of our education agents to help you apply.
