We are delighted for all our Year 12 graduates who contributed to outstanding academic results in 2024, further consolidating the improvements made in recent years.

The combined IB/VCE median ATAR for the class of 2024 is 84.70. As an open entry school dedicated to providing an all-round education, we celebrate each student’s performance in delivering their personal best.

Our students are offered a choice in pathways that is aligned to their interests, talents and goals through the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme or the VCE Vocational Major. Out of these tertiary pathways, both the VCE and IB provide our Year 12 graduates with an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR).

Student Stories

Charlie Cook (P'24)

Charlie, from Gheringhap, joined the School as a day boarder in Year 7 in Highton House, progressing on to Timbertop before joining Perry House at the start of Year 10. Coincidentally, the release of VCE results fell on Charlie's 18th birthday, and he received an early gift when he saw his score. "I felt nervous beforehand and then I was amazed to see my score!" Charlie said.

Charlie's score was built on the back of strong results in Science (Chemistry and Physics) and Mathematics (Methods and Specialist). "Science and Maths have always been a strength of mine but, more importantly, they were subjects that interested and engaged me." Beyond the classroom, Charlie will remember fondly the sports teams he was a part of at GGS—"I found the friendships and competition, especially in the team sports I played, to be one of the highlights of my school experience"—and life in his boarding house, Perry. "Perry has a strong culture of brotherhood and friendship, and events like House Swimming, Aths and Music really put on show the pride we all have for our houses." Charlie is set to commence a Bachelor of Science at The University of Melbourne next year, with a view to studying Medicine in the future.

Dylan Jupp (P'24)

Dylan, from Kew, joined the School in Year 8 in Barwon (now Parrwang) House, went on to Timbertop and spent his Senior School years in Perry House. Dylan won the School's Prize for Physics in Year 12, and the Prize for Practical Physics and Chemistry in Year 11. A talented musician, he was a member of the School's guitar ensemble and was one of two winning soloists at this year's GGS Battle of the Bands. Beyond the classroom, Dylan has represented the School in badminton and soccer, and was a member of our Global Citizens Council.

Sara Salter (EM'24)

Sara, from Hawthorn, joined the School at Timbertop at Year 9, joining Elisabeth Murdoch House for her Senior School years, completing the VCE. "When I received my ATAR results I not only felt proud that I accomplished my dream ATAR but also relieved that the hard work I put in paid off," Sara said. "It also made me realise how well I balanced my social life, family, down time and study, which makes me confident for my future endeavours."

Sara completed the VCE VET Music Performance Unit in Year 12, which enabled her and other students to perform at venues throughout Geelong. "It pushed me way outside my comfort zone in a challenging yet extremely rewarding way. I got to experience performing outside of school and at multiple venues, which I had never done before, so this was very new to me yet became thrilling quite quickly." Sara will spend this year abroad, expanding on what she learned in VCE French at GGS, before returning to Melbourne to commence further studies.

Jordan Martyn (P'24)

Jordan has been a member of the Geelong Grammar School since 2016, when he commenced at the School's Bostock House campus. During his time in Senior School, Jordan has represented our light blue in athletics, football and tennis, and completed the gruelling Lorne 160 fundraiser in Year 11. Jordan received four distinction prizes in Year 12 and plans to study Engineering/ Science at Monash University.

Sophia Grodski (EM'24)

Sophia joined our Toorak Campus community all the way back in ELC4 and has been with us ever since, right through to completing her Senior School years in Elisabeth Murdoch House. Sophia was involved in a wide variety of sporting pursuits during her time at the School, from athletics to swimming, Aussie Rules to touch football. In Year 12, Sophie received the Psychology Prize and, beyond GGS, she plans to study Commerce at The University of Melbourne.
