Your legacy is an investment in the future of our school and a meaningful way to celebrate your connection to it.

A Gift in Your Will

Create a lasting impact that will help shape the Geelong Grammar School of tomorrow.

Regardless of size, a gift in your Will can help provide students with transformative opportunities through scholarships; it can help build exceptional facilities and programmes; and it can help preserve our heritage.

It can be used where the need is greatest or as you desire.

A gift in your Will costs nothing now, but you will be safe in the knowledge that your future gift will have a lasting legacy.

“Our family bequest will make this life-changing education possible for someone who otherwise could not attend the School”

Bill Ranken (M ’72)

“Having been a member of the Geelong Grammar School community for the first two decades of my life, my reason for becoming a member of the Biddlecombe Society was simple. I am greatly encouraged by the school’s initiative to be able to offer placements to students from Indigenous communities as well as those from overseas who will return to their own communities enriched by their experiences at the school. As my father was on the staff for many years, I am proud to be a supporting member.”

Sue Hollis (The Hermitage ’62)

“Every day throughout our lives we may witness the effects of a good education on the people we meet. It may be manifested by flexible thinking, creative endeavour, humanitarian initiatives, innovative career choices, wise counsel, or simply the confidence to choose a road less travelled. Geelong Grammar School opens doorways that lead to mountain tops. Children meet fellow pupils from all over Australia and many parts of the world.  They are invited to explore their own potential, not just in academic pursuits, but in sports, art, music, theatre, charitable efforts and in building worthwhile community relationships. Thinking outside the square is encouraged and life seems full of possibilities beyond the school gates.

“I joined the Biddlecombe Society, pledging a bequest to GGS, to enable a diverse range of young, enquiring minds from all socio-economic backgrounds to benefit from this exceptional education.”

Margie Gillett (Cordner, Cl ’71)

Since its foundation in 1855, Geelong Grammar has been sustained and developed by wonderful, inspiring acts of generosity, generation after generation. A gift in your Will is a meaningful way to recognise your connection to the School.

How to leave a gift in your Will

If you already have a Will, you may simply add a codicil (amendment) to include Geelong Grammar School – a straightforward and inexpensive procedure. A codicil is a document that amends, rather than replaces, a previously executed Will. It must be signed and witnessed with the same formalities as those used in the original Will’s preparation.

If you do not have a Will, we recommend that you seek professional advice about establishing one at your earliest convenience. It is never too early to think about estate planning.

A gift in your Will can be named or made anonymously.

By notifying the Foundation of your intention to leave a gift in your Will, we can honour and thank you in your lifetime. You will also be invited to join the Biddlecombe Society – a growing group of people who care for, and love, the School, and who intend to leave a bequest to GGS.

Simply contact the Geelong Grammar Foundation for a confidential discussion on how to leave a gift, for guidance on wording your Will, or to notify us of your intentions.
